Measure visits from printed QR campaigns
Connect a flyer, poster or event placement to a named campaign without confusing scans with website activity.
The question to answer
A QR code sends the reader to a URL. If that URL includes campaign tags, a tracked visit can carry the placement name into your reports. This measures people who reach the site and permit tracking, not everyone who sees the printed item or scans a code without completing the page load.
Before you start
A public landing page that works well on mobile.
A tagged URL and your preferred QR-code generator.
A defined goal, such as a completed enquiry, and revenue attribution if needed.
1. Identify the placement
Give each placement a meaningful identifier, such as autumn-fair-poster or parcel-insert-01. Separate placements only where you can act on the difference; excessive labels make small samples harder to read.
2. Build the destination URL
Use QR code or print in the link builder. It supplies a print source and offline medium. Add the placement identifier as the campaign, then copy the complete URL.
3. Generate and test the code
Create a QR code from the complete tagged URL using your chosen generator. Test a printed proof on several phones, including the actual size, lighting and viewing distance of the placement.
4. Check the mobile journey
Open the landing page through the code, handle consent and complete a test action. Confirm any redirect keeps the tags. A working scan that lands on an awkward signup flow is not a successful campaign.
5. Compare placements after the event
Read Campaign for observed visitors, goals and credited payments. Keep print quantity, event dates and placement costs in your own record. A visitor count is not a direct estimate of the number of physical scans.
Worked example
If two placements use the same campaign, they appear together. Create separate codes when you need separate decisions. Re-test after any change to the destination or redirect service.
Check your setup
A printed proof reaches the correct page with all tags intact.
The page and consent controls work on mobile.
The goal represents the completed action you actually want.
How to interpret the result
Visits do not equal scans, printed impressions or unique people in a venue.
Dynamic QR providers may have their own availability and billing terms.
Anyone can copy a printed link and share it in another context.
Your next action
Test one small print run first, then use the result to decide where a larger placement is justified.
