Compare outcomes across visitor countries
Use approximate location as a starting point for investigating regional differences in signup and purchase behaviour.
The question to answer
Different regions may experience different payment methods, languages, prices and loading speeds. A country breakdown helps you decide what to investigate. It is not a precise location service, and a weak conversion rate should prompt checks before you exclude a market or change prices.
Before you start
A stable goal name for the action you intend to measure.
A sufficiently large sample within one reporting period.
Revenue attribution if your outcome is a successful payment.
1. Define the conversion first
Choose a completed action, such as signup_complete, rather than a button click if completion is what matters. Write down whether you are comparing goal visitors or paying visitors; these are different outcomes.
2. Set a reporting baseline
Select the same dates, timezone and filters for every comparison. Note the total visitor count before adding a country filter. Remove earlier campaign or page filters unless they are part of the question.
3. Filter by country
Select a Country row and inspect the filtered Goals and payment views. Record both visitors and the visitors who completed your outcome. Do not substitute raw event occurrences for people; one visitor can trigger a goal repeatedly.
4. Calculate a comparable rate
Divide converting visitors by observed visitors and multiply by 100. Repeat for another country using the same outcome and dates. Keep the counts beside the percentage, particularly when the sample is small.
5. Investigate practical barriers
Check mobile performance, checkout availability and language with the relevant audience. Use Region or City only where it helps a real question; their approximate nature makes them unsuitable for exact targeting or eligibility decisions.
Worked example
Canada’s 10% comes from only two converting visitors. It is a lead for further observation, not stronger evidence than the larger UK sample. The rate in this table is a worked calculation, not a promise of a separate country-rate column in the app.
Check your setup
Goal counts represent the intended completed outcome.
The denominator uses visitors under the same country filter.
You have noted small samples and checked the checkout experience.
How to interpret the result
VPNs, proxies and network geography can affect the assigned location.
Consent and browser blocking may vary across audiences.
These reports do not identify a visitor’s nationality or exact address.
Your next action
Pick one observable regional friction point and fix it, then review the same outcome over a comparable period.

|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 400 | 20 | 5% |
| Germany | 200 | 6 | 3% |
